Event ID: 18 The device sent an incorrect response(s) following a mouse reset
Hi, I hope someone can help me with this.
We have 2 groups of servers at work. One group are Dell Poweredge 8450
servers & the other group are 6450 servers. All servers are running Windows
2000 Advanced Server. All servers are connected through a Cybex Autoboot
Commander 4XD to a Dell rackmount keyboard (includes a scroll mouse). The
problem is this: the 8450 servers ALL work fine but the 6450s don't work
with the mouse (the keyboard works though). They all get the same error:

Our temporary "fix" to this problem is to uninstall the Microsoft mouse
driver. Once the server reboots, the mouse works, however when we are
prompted to restart the server once again, we don't (if we do the mouse
stops working again!).
We have checked all the obvious things: connections, etc. When we plug the
ps/2 mouse directly into the 6450 servers they work fine so at least we know
the ports work. I have even flashed the BIOSs on the servers; no luck.
We have contacted Dell. They told us they haven't seen this problem before.
All the servers are new and I would tend to agree with Dell's position. I
think the problem lies with the Cybex but has anyone here run into this
problem before? Sorry for the novel, but any advice, input, etc are
appreciated.

Ok, I solved the problem. I went in the Device Manager & clicked the Advanced Settings tab of the mouse properties page. All I did was disable wheel detection then I rebooted. It works fine now. Well since you put me on the right track, you get the points Housenet. Thanks again.
