I need to know what you prefer and why between these two sound cards: 1) SB PCI 128  OR 2) SB PCI512  ?????????
I have both. I thought the 512 was newer, but does not appear to be newer, as it loaded a 1999 driver???
If neither of these are good cards - what would be reccommended?

Thanks

The drivers are not much of an indication of the card's age - go to the Crative website and search for the latest drivers.

The 512 is the better card, but read this too.

Whether they are "good" cards depends entirely on what you want to do, and how good your ear is.  They are fine for the average Joe playing Quake or messing about with a mike or guitar, but they are pitiful for recording music at a professional level.  You would probalby do better to spend any money on better speakers rather than a better card.
