lpBitmapInfoHeader

Hi,

I have the following lpBitmapInfoHeader, how do i modify it for 256 greyscale?

With bih do
begin

  biBitCount := 24;
  biClrImportant := 0;
  biClrUsed := 0;
  biCompression := BI_RGB;
  biHeight := psi.rcFrame.bottom - psi.rcFrame.top;
  biPlanes := 1;
  biSize := 40;
  biWidth := psi.rcFrame.right - psi.rcFrame.left;
  biXPelsPerMeter := 0;
  biYPelsPerMeter := 0;
  biSizeImage := (((biWidth * 3) + 3) And $FFFC) *
   biHeight //calculate total size of RGBQUAD scanlines
   (DWORD aligned)

end;

Cheers

you'd need to change:

biBitCount := 24

to:

biBitCount := 8

and:

biSizeImage := (((biWidth * 3) + 3) And $FFFC) *
  biHeight

to:

biSizeImage := ((biWidth + 3) And $FFFC) *  biHeight

Also, this header is contained by another - of which i forget the name.  The parent header will contain a list of RGBQuads, that's your paletee, so you'll need to allocate some mem for those & fill them with greyscale palette.

I haven't got a clue when it comes to these Bitmap Structure for the API!

I still ain't got A greyscale.  But I convert the Bitmap to a Delphi TBitmp, with the following code.

bits := Pointer(lpbiwanted);
dc := getDc(0);
Inc(Bits, Header^.biSize+ Header^.biClrUsed*sizeOf
                                              (RgbQuad));
hBmp := CreateDIBitmap(dc,Header^, CBM_INIT, bits,
                    PBITMAPINFO(Header)^, DIB_RGB_COLORS );

Thanks Again
