USB problem?

Ok, a while back, I got a Toshiba PDR-M60 digital camera, and had to install a USB port for it(ADS technologies). I installed Windows 98 SE, and it would no longer download, I reinstalled the drivers and it was fine. Well, now, it all of a sudden it won't download again..and when I plug the camera into the port, it is *not* showing in the control panel like it used to. So I ran my hardware installation wizard, chose the camera from the list, but it is not giving me the option to install it in the USB port!! The only optios it gives me to install it at are COM 1, COM 2, and Printer port.
My system information show that on IRQ 9 there are three items, Lucent USB open host controller, a PCI to USB open host controller(which should be the one I installed according to the manual), and an IRQ holder for PCI steering (there is also one of these on 5,11 and 12). I may be completely barking up the wrong tree, but isnt that alot for port 9?
Anything else I should check? Any ideas??
Thanks guys!

uninstall and then reinstall the USB port and see if that helps.

Thanks for the response! I am frantically tring to hunt down my windows disk, since Im gonna need it no matter *what* I do. Ok, to uninstall the USB, what do I choose..I have 4 refrences under USB devices...a "Lucent open host controller", two "USB root hub" and one "VIA Tech 3038 PCI to USB Univbersal Host controller". I *think* the last one is what showed up when I installed, but have no idea what the other three are for! There was not a USB port until I installed this one.
There already was an USB port supported on your mainboard, but probably you have no bracket with plugs so that you have no physical access to the port. Usually you can disable that port (the VIA) in the BIOS, but I don't think this does matter at all.

It's OK to have multiple devices sharing one interrupt, as long as their drivers support this feature. The IRQ steering is not a real hardware component but rather a software helper for windows to manage the IRQ sharing of the other devices.

You cannot install PnP devices by using the Hardware wizard. PnP devices are recognized automatically and windows will make the binding to the appropriate port automatically. COM and LTP ports are not fully PnP, and that's why thea are listed when you install such a device. Anyways, it will NEVER work if you try install it manually.

I'd suggest to try another USB device on your USB port to see whether this works. An option may also be to download an updated driver for the Lucent USB controller.

Oh, HELL, Im sorry!!!!!! I had a modem crash since I last posted this question, Im on another harrdrive until I can reformat, Im sorry, I forgot about my little camera problems in the face of complete computing distruction :P
Last time I used it, reinstalling the drivers fixed it (after I reinstalled them about 5 times), then it went out again, then I had another problem which I posted here, then I was off line for a long time.
Anyway I was reading on a site that this particular camera is infamous for its driver problems.
Soooooo...not sure what to do, lol...decided to reformat the harddrive since I KEEP having problems with it, so Im on a completely different pc until Tuesday. Someone advise?
