can i run servlets on IIS server?if possible please explain.if not why?

Yes, you can use TomCat (http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/index.html) or
JServ (http://java.apache.org/jserv/index.html) which both are free servlet
engines.

U can use ServletPlugin for IIs. It can be downloaded from www.servletexec.com. Its really good.
