Text File Attachments in Outlook Express are no longer received

Hello,

I receive daily e-mail news from the Ecological
Society of America (LISTSERV@UMDD.UMD.EDU) in the form of attachments that used to show as files at the bottom of the e-mail.

These no longer show, and I am no longer able to read them.

The error message that came when it first happened referred to the vcardfile - but I accidentally clicked it off before reading and recording the details.

Three things that might help:
1.  I have recently had to reinstall Windows 95.  However this problem did not eventuate until several weeks after this.
2. The problem arose immediately after I removed the two visual basic file types off the list of registered file types in windows explorer (Windows Explorer/View/Folder Options/File Types).
3. I uninstalled outlook express 5.5 and re-installed it (from the Microsoft site); this did not work.

Will I need to uninstall IE5.5, and re-install it, to restore the file associations; or is there something else going on here?

Thanks

Fred

If you start the registry editor (regedit.exe) and go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{big long
number}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0

Do you see a dword value on the right labled:
Automatically Inline Images

If yes, what is it set to? (These are the values that I am aware of.)

 - 0 disabled preview of the message attachment altogether
 - 1 slide-show disable
 - 2 slide-show enabled

Setting to 2 should show the attachments inline.
