I didn't hear about something like this for windows, anyway, there is no common standard how these files are packed to a game, for Diablo(II) there exist some programms to get the sounds, music and video etc out of the files but these won't work for any other programms (well maybe for other blizzard software but i'm not sure) Like this it should be for practically all games. sometimes the music is on cd-audio tracks and you can copy it from there or sometimes it is included as wave or in newer games even as mp3. so you can just copy it (you have to look throught the directories to find them).

No, the music is not on CD or MP3 format.

what format is it in, or better do you know where it is stored ? what ending does the file have ?

Hi,

Well a simple way of doing this is to play the game - connect the output soucke on your sound card ie where the speakeris connected to into the input/mic socket on you sound card and record away .... if you need to recoed a lot of sound then this is probably not a very efficient way to do it but it is quick and simple if you just need small pieces of sound.

Cheers,

T.

Sometimes game makers have a very dodgy way of disguising mp3s by just changing the extension.  If this is what has happened here, just change it back to mp3 and you should be able to play it like any other mp3.

Hope it helps!

One game, System Shock 2, had sound files (I can't recall if this included music) in wav format in an uncompressed zip file with a made-up extension.   If the game has just a few sound files, try Winzip.

Then again, one truely hopeless case would be system shock 1, which composed its musical scores each level from scattered bits of .midi files.   Someone was actually good enough to reconstruct them, though; I highly recommend the elevator music. :-)

Go here:- http://www.mpegx.com/audio.asp?dcat=AudioRecorder&detail=257 and download Total Recorder.

This program will not rip music from the file, but rather will record it as you play the game (no need for a microphone).

It is perfect for ripping music from DvDs and games without any technical knowledge or ripping know-how.

Remember though, to comply with copyright laws you can only use the music in your own home, for your own use.

With that said, happy ripping! =)
