Front Page Extensions install

I have a new install of RH7.1 and want to install the Microsoft Front Page Extensions for Apache. Any comments or recommendations. Is the Front Page 2000 software backwards compatible? What about Front Page 2002? Thanks for your help>

Yip, well, *IF* you should ever get the solution to this ( and by the way, I HAVE heard rumours that some lucky blokes actually got it working...) plz let me know, cause it would be interesting to see why I have failed thus far.

Go to my website at www.linuxhelp.co.za and follow the web server link, I placed all the steps of compiling and implementing the FP extensions on Apache. I'm not sure if the links to microsoft still works, but you can try, and it should give you some info on the 2002 extensions, btw, the 2000 extensions are backwards comp.

Just out of interest sake.
I also worked with FP extensions on my Apache a long time ago, before I saw what heap of crap it actually is. You limit yourself and your webserver to such an extent, that it almost becomes rediculous once you realize what you could have done if you had used PHP/mysql/perl etc. instead.
I know it's very handy if you are used to making pages in FP, or if you have clients that insist on having FP extensions, but if you have ANY say in the matter, don't do it, rather teach yourself PHP ( I have a section on PHP and MySQL on my website as well that you can read if interested...)

OH MY. Are you saying that someting Microsoft did isn't perfect or the best. Did you live through the bolt of lightning that hit after you posted this? Seriously I've noticed the comments about how HUGE the FP extension download is and figured  typical Microsoft. It's unfortunately a situation of clients preference. Thanks for the comment. Tried your site and it didn't load so will try later.

Installed per your recommendations. Now we have to get php working again. Is there a problem with both php and fpextensions on one machine.

Ha ha, sorry for laughing, but NOW you're at the nice bitchy part. I was hoping you wouldn't ask that question, but for some reason i just knew you were...

Unfortunately my friend, I have not been able to get both running, nor do I know of anyone who has...

Maybe keep this thread open, or ask another Q that is more specific ? My knowledge will take you no further :(

Lordy let's write Bill Gates as I am sure it is an oversight that a Microsoft product has problems working with something else. NEVER heard of that happening before.

GOT IT
Your comments got me started. Ended up installing RH7.1 without apache then installed Apache then FP and php from http://linux.joshie.com/projects/.
Works great. I appreciate you pointing me in the proper direction.
