Necessity is the mother of invention!

I was talking to a colleague the other day, and he told me that for his final year project, he approached one of the other departments at his school to see if they could take advantage of his skills.  Anyway, one of the science departments had an old FORTRAN application running under DOS that was sorely in need of an update.  Anyway, for his project he re-wrote it in Java, with a better front-end, etc.

Hope this suggestion helps.

Do a project to write a programme to suggest possible c++ projects. Then, if you ever need another one, you can just use your programme to generate it! Simple but effective.

If you want something more hard, you can make , for example, RTF viewer, that support full RTF format(including  bmp/png/mtf/emtf graphic).

Full featured text editor ...supporting major languages like C/C++/Java etc. with Syntax highlighting...one should be able to copy and paste the same code in applications like MS-WORD with synatx highlighting.

two options
1.  Nural Networks
2.  go to www.sourceforge.net where they house many projects for multiple platforms, include windows.  You can participate in a project and use your portion as your project.
