Hi,
My question is not technical, and is really easy, but specific:
There is the situation:
My colleague will spent 1,5 month of vacation in Montpellier (France), and he needs acces to Internet mail from his notebook.

I would be happy to receive info about any available Internet service provider in this city. The best would be payable access number, without registration, so I would be able to configure his notebook here before vacation.
I would be happy receive any related information, if there are any specific features needed to connect through phone line using analog V.90 modem (I have never been in France, so I know only that phone jack in France is very specific, and already obtained one).

Thanks in advance,
Regards,

There don't tend to be as many local ISPs in Europe as there are in the US - the cost of bandwidth sometimes means that small, local ISP's have slower connections and so struggle to survive.

Some ISP's you could try are:

M.Net: www.mnet.fr
Based in Montpellier. Offer a range of services from 125F per month. Free support, V90, newsgroups, proxy, 50Mb mailbox. E-mail: info@mnet.fr

Infonie: www.infonie.fr/offres
Offer a range of services, but many of these seem to be time-capped.

Wanadoo: www.wanadoo.fr
ISP run by France Telecom. Range of services including "free" access (Acces Libre) ie. pay phone charge as you go. They also have the usual monthly options. Contact form: http://abonnez-vous.wanadoo.fr/data/R/DemandeDoc.phtml?code=

Watch out for pay-by-month deals - some ISPs will charge a penalty if you cancel before 12 months is up.

Many modems are manufactured for a global market these days, so as long as you have the right phone socket adaptor, it should work.

You may also want to glance at:

- someone's diary entry entitled "Getting online in Montpellier" !

Finally, if you can't speak French, don't be afraid to apologise and ask the company nicely in English. :o)  Usually works.

Thanks a lot!
It seems enough, and just in the last moment ---
my colleague is going to France  tomorrow.
I'll configure everything, what I can, here, and hope we will run ir successfully.
