I just want to change a movie clip's color using setrgb but, the color is being read in from the html file that the swf is in. This part seems to work fine.

You can see for yourself at http://www.cjcraft.com/

You can change the site colors here:

http://www.cjcraft.com/applications/webskins.asp

And the flash graphic will change colors to match.

The server is acting up today so you might have to try again later.

One part of the movie clip is set to shrink horizontally using a motion tween. This motion tween doesn't work if I change the color using setrgb. What am I doing wrong and how do I fix the swf?

I was thinking maybe if I just did the width resize effect programmatically I could achieve the same effect, but I am new to Flash, and haven't been able to get this to work right either. This almost has to be possible.

Eventually I wanted to rotate the movie clip as well so I could simulate a 3D rotating object. If you check out the site you can figure out what I mean.

I am mostly after a way to pull off as much of this effect as possible either with actionscript or motion tweens.

Thanks for the help!

to programmatically set the width of a movie clip do this

give the movie an instance name mc

so

mc._xscale = 50 //scale it down by 50%

mc._yscale = 75 // scale down to 75%

I was hoping to find that there was a way to dynamically change the color and keep the motion tween that I had but apparently there isn't. But I got it to work by doing it all programatically and skipping the motion tween. Thanks for the help.
