I have been designing Lotus notes database. In that database each document has a  link for corresponding PDF File that is not a part of the database it is stored some where on client hard drive.. I have certain question.

  1. How to create the link to the PDf File in the Lotus notes. So that user click on that    link and PDf file gets open.
  2. Is it possible to print that file directly from the lotus notes environment. Even if the user is accessing the database from his machine and pdf file has been located on the server?
 3. Another requirement if user wants to replicate the database then he/she should be able to replicate the pdf files from the server to his own machine.

Please help me. It is urgent.

Thanks,
shrirang

Shrirang,

I guess what you need to do is have a lotusscript agent to add the PDF files from the server into the database as attachments.  This wasy if someone wants to replicate the database to their laptop (for example) they would have all the PDFs (covers point 3).  I'm not sure if the Notes file viewer can handle PDFs, if not, then if your company is working with many PDFs, they must surely have adobe acrobat reader? you can print the PDFs from there (point 2).  If you have an agent to pull the attachments from the server into the database, then when they right click on the pdf in the notes document, they can access the pdf from there, removing the need for a link (point 1).

hope this helps.
thanks,
Joe.
