Dial-up connection is duplicating itself

I run W2K Pro (stand alone) + SP2. In the last few weeks my default connection 'wxs' has started to multiply: the default shows as owner "System", but after a few hours there suddenly appears a duplicate with exactly the same name, but showing as owner "Administrator" (that's me). Otherwise all properties are similar, even to the extent that they are both being shown as 'default'. Usually my mail program alerts me, as it doesn't know which one it should choose. When I find it, I delete it, otherwise another one will appear a few hours later. I have also tried renaming it and searched for it in the registry (I thought I might change permissions on the key), but  I could never find it.

Please tell me, did I perhaps make a mistake in the Group policy editor (I searched, but can't find anything), or is it a quirk of SP2 maybe?

Any help will be appreciated.

Not sure, but check up that you have only one rasphone.pbk file

Brilliant! I had five: one each under E:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Pbk and 3 more users and one under ...\All Users\... which was apparently the one for "system". The other ones I emptied and made read only. The problem has not reappeared since!

Thanks very much.
