Unable to start MS Exchange Server

Somehow our Exchange Server just stop working, I have tried to restart the server but it didn't work.  I then try to run the Internet Mail Service manually and it said that and error occur in Store.exe "Exception access violation (0xc000005), address 0x77f05138."

Anyone has any idea how to fix this?

This is emergency, all comments are appreciated.

Thank you,

Here are some Error log message
-Unexpected Error <<0xc0040000-Network problems are preventing connection to the MS Exchange server computer.  MS Exchange Server Information Store ID no 8000401150000006bf>> occurred.
-Unable to start the Internet Mail serice because the work threads could not be initialized
-Un error was return from the msg software the Internet Mail Service uses to process mesgs on the MS Exchange SErver.  It is posible that the piece of mail being processed at the time will be returned to the sender as a failed delivery instead of being delivered.  The msg will be moved to the "BAD" folder, if possible, and the errors is not a temporary error.  Otherwiese it will be retrived when the service is restared.  Use the appropriate utilities found in the SUPPORT directry of your EXchange CD to view and manipulate the msgs that have been moved to bad folder
-The error 0x80040115 was encountered while trying to communicate with the msg store.  An attempt to refresh the connection will be made.  If not successful, the service will be shut down.
-A serious error has occurred while trying to send mail into the Exchange Information Store the IMS is being shut down.

Try both solution but none solved the problem...here a little more info if helped.  When the Server first start up, neither  Information Store or IMS was able to started.  I then started Information Store and it started fine.  However, then I try to start IMS and it said store.exe has error.  This time, IMS status turned to Started and the Information stopped.  Try to reinstalled the Exchange and it said some dll was unable to do self register....Any comments?
You may want to investigate the ESEUTIL tool using the INTEGRITY (/G) switch. Possible database corruption.

The /G switch is non-intrusive. It will not make changes to the db. If it does report a problem you can use other switches to fix it.

Also, I'm assuming this is Exchange 5.5. Please verify.

Was anything changed before the problems began?

I already run eseutil /g in under the run command like this but the windows close out after done so I can't read what it say.  THis is what I ran "eseutil /g" in the command...do I need to specify databse path?

Yes, this is version 5.5.  I dont think any changes was made prior to the error.  However, I am expecting a large mail from a friend (about 90MB).  He sent it one day ago and it still haven't arrive yet.  Dont know if that file has anything to do with what happened to the server now.  As of his side, his mail didn't say anything about undeliverable mail.

Thank you
At the risk of stating the obvious, is your server OK on disk space?

If you run ESEUTIL from the Command Prompt (Start > Programs), rather than from Run, any messages should stay on the screen until you close the window.
Also check the size of your priv.edb. If it is approaching 16 GB and you are using the standard version of Exchange (not Enterprise) you have reached maximum db size. But there should be events in the event log that would allude to this.

To use ESEUTIL to verify integrity, go to a command prompt (as stated by Beluga above) and type this:

C:> ESEUTL /g /ispriv /v

This will give you PLENTY of info about the priv.edb.

I ran the command "eseutil /g /ispriv /v" and the following error was out put "operation terminated with error -1032 <jet_errFileAccessDeniel, Cannot access file> after 1.927 secs

Also, my priv.edb is only few hundreds MB big.  and the Disk where the databse is has over 3.G in empty space.
This may be why ESEUTIL is having a problem

Ok.. So I stopped all service and run the eseutil again..This time it ran and said integrity check completed.  Operation successfully in 27 secs.

I then restart the MS Exchange.  Dr Watson for Windows NT report error "Store.exe exception access violation (0xc000005) address, 0x77f....

Anything thing I can do w/ this?

Good news.  Its working again.  What I did is that I have to go to the IN and OUT folder of the Exchange and remove all files in there.  It must be because of bad header mail as stated in one of the error that cause the IS to unable to start up.  I think the solution is somewhat close to what bz7 so I'll give him the credits.

Thank you everyone,
