If recovering your data is first priority, i suggest that you install another win 2000 on your server. This will for sure give you access to the drives in your system, and is quite fast and safe to do. Just remember to choose install when it asks you, NO TO FORMAT if you choose the same partition as the original installation, and you must specify a different directory the the default. Call it winnt new.

Can you get into safe mode and recover your data from there ?. Hit F8 at startup to get the menu-

Only thing i can think of at the moment is:
When you successfully have recovered your data off the server, try reinstalling it on top of itself (in the same directory as an upgrade) it might fix the problem you're having.

Feel free to keep posting in this question if you have additional questions while you're recovering you data and "upgrading" the server. This will save you some points.

Also it's normal to wait untill the problem is fixed before accepting an answer, so next time you should wait, also because there is some great experts at this site and one of them might have had a quick fix for your problem.

Best Regards
Tonny

Thanx tonny...I am an Internet dev and I have a lot of fear to loose some code I didn't recover before.
tonny unfortunately seem to be some problems because the system 1) allows me ONLY to operate in the old partition
and 2) in this partition allows just to FORMAT the existing one..and doesn't allow me ""to install"...
Any help will be so much appreciated
