What is the best way to have linked about 40,000 files (mostly word & excel) to 4000 documents in a nab. The size of the file is about 4GB in total.

Should these files be in a seperate database, the same database, should we use hotspots, embed etc!!!

You can have a seperate db, which will hold the files and paste the document link to the nab documents.

Why seperate db, NAB is always used by throughout the system and if you load the document with heavy attachments or embed them then the indexing itself would take long time to finish (this is just an example). Accessing would be another problem, it will take lots of time to load the ole object.

This nab is not the master ab, but based on the personal ab, but used corporate wide. Does this matter?

Also check this question,

Here the idea is usage of network directory to store files and link them in the documents using server share and file path.

PS: I tried to paste the whole discussion but somehow my clipboard doesn't copy. So you might have to give 10 pts to read this question, Sorry !
