Conversion .MDB to .CDB

When importing a database file (.mdb) to the Windows CE Emulator for the Pocket PC as shipped with the
Windows CE Development tools (eVB 3.0), the file does not automatically get converted to a .cdb format.
Is it necessary to have Pocket Access installed (on the emulator or device) in order for this to take
place? Does this conversion take place at design time or on import to device or emulator? How and when
is the data converted from .mdb to .cdb? (We assume that the process should automatically occur when
importing the Access DB on the desktop to Pocket Access on the device.???????!

when importing the .mdb file to emulator, i think u need to convert it to .cdb before copying. If you are importing directly to the device, the ActiveSync will automatically convert the file for you.

There is a small program created in VB which you can use to convert the .mdb file to .cdb file, for use in emulator.

First try this location:
Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\ADOCE\Samples\VB\EmulDB

this utility program comes with ADOCE installation.

hope this helps...

When you import or export a database to or from the device, the database is converted to either pocket access or access.

When you do a synchronisation with the device and the pc, the local copy of the database and the device copy of the database can also be synchronised if this pocket access is chosen as a required synch option.
