Hi! I needed to install a JDK1.3 on IBM AIX 4.3.2.
But I found that the JDK1.3 downloaded from www.java.sun.com is specified to support Sun Solarix Unix. So, I have gone to www.ibm.com to download the JDK1.3. However, I can just downloaded some files like

Binaries and classes   Java130.rte.tar (27187200)
 ?/FONT>   OR - Java130.rte.tar.gz (21559490)
For Chinese, Korean, Japanese locales only   Java130.msg.tar (71680)
 ?/FONT>   OR - Java130.msg.tar.gz (5620)
 Demos   Java130.samples.tar (7321600)
 ?/FONT>   OR-Java130.samples.tar.gz (5389391)
Comm API, JAAS, and Plugin   Java130.ext.tar (1914880)
 ?/FONT>   OR - Java130.ext.tar.gz (1006070)
Includes and debug version of binaries/classes   Java130.adt.tar (18636800)
 ?/FONT>   OR - Java130.adt.tar.gz (11223362)
XML Parser for Java   Java130.xml4j.tar (2887680)
 ?/FONT>   OR - Java130.xml4j.tar.gz (2424561)
Java Certificate Management Protocol   Java130.cmp-us.tar (537440)
 ?/FONT>   OR - Java130.cmp-us.tar.gz (530173)
 Java Cryptography Extension   Java130.jce-us.tar (3614720)
 ?/FONT>   OR - Java130.jce-us.tar.gz (1595563)
Java Secure Socket Extension   Java130.jsse-us.tar (1136640)
 ?/FONT>   OR - Java130.jsse-us.tar.gz (1005140)
Java Public Key Cryptography Standards   Java130.pkcs-us.tar (1064960)
 ?/FONT>   Java130.pkcs-us.tar.gz (1001780)

I do not find a GUNZIP command on AIX UNIX. Moreover, after I have unzip the file Java130.rte.tar.gz, the file I found is just "Java130.rte" and it is not executable on AIX Unix. So, how can I install JDK on AIX Unix?

Does the download of www.java.sun.com for Sun Solarix also workable on AIX Unix?

No it doesn't, you'll need to go to IBM and get the JDK for AIX.

try this :

#tar xvf Java131.rte.tar
#inutoc
#smit install_latest

- put a "." into the field, which asks you about the
location of your software.
- Press F4 in the follow on screen of smit.
- Select with F7 your software in the follow on screen
- Press ENTER twice
