Installed a 128 meg SmartMedia in a working Rio 500.  The card is not even recognized when the unit is turned on, and the PC interface software doesn't recognize it either.

a) will Rio 500 accept a 128 meg card?

b) does the SmartMedia need to be "initialized" or "formatted" or ...?

c) any other ideas or suggestions ...?

Thanks --

Bob.

Yes the RIO - WITH THE LATEST FIRMWARE UPGRADE - will work with the 128Meg SMart Media card.
To check Firmware version switch on RIO and go to STATUS.  The latest FIRWARE is 2.15.
If you need to upgrade then go to WWW.riohome.com for the latest frimware.

Yes you do need to format the card.  This can be done in RIOPORT.
Also get the latest version - www.rioport.com
