Is it possible to read and parse an external text file(info.txt) from some HTML file(index.html) using ONLY Javascript? If yes, can you write the function to read the external file?

In case you still didn't understood:
let's assume you have a file called index.html and I want to read a file called info.txt. Then I want to have a popup window that say if there is the word "hello" in info.txt. Is this feasible? If yes, how can you read the file in the first place?

if you want cross-browser functionality,
you can load a file into a frame and get its content via javascript provided the files are in the same domain.
