JPEGs in Painter Classic

I have a copy of Painter Classic that came with my Wacom tablet and for some reason the program won't open my jpeg files.Every time I try to open a jpeg I get this error message:(JPEG Decoding error[-1] ).None of my other apps ( Photoshop, PhotoImpact etc.)are having this problem.I tried opening a tiff file and had no problem with that.

The problem is probably that there is something either wrong with the JPEG or something wrong with Painter. You could try opening another JPEG and if the problem persists its a problem with painter. If it does open another JPEG its probably an issue with the header information. As i said painter is kinda weird and finicky and it may not like things like embedded color profiles etc in jpegs. You could also do a clean install of Painter to make sure youve got all the proper parser plugins in an uncorrupted form.

Painter is kinda a weird program. Its never been especially good at dealing with different file formats etc but it is surprising that its having issues with a JPEG. Open the JPEG in PS and save it as a TIFF so you dont lose quality. Then open the TIFF in painter.

I already understand that that I could convert the file to open it. I'm not looking for a workaround, I want to know what the problem is and how to fix it. I mean....JPEG is not a file format that it should be having problems with.

After reading up on this program, I have decided that Painter Classic is a buggy piece of crap not worth worrying about. I will award you the points because at least you tried to help. Thanks.
