Remove Favorites from Start Menu

I am looking into removing the Favorites folder from the Start menu, is there a Key in the registry that can be edited to remove this shortcut.  Or can it be removed any other way.  I know it cannot be deleted as it is part of the system.  Many thanks Pete.

Standard registry tweaking warnings apply.  Be careful and back it up before changing and be careful that you do not make any errant changes since it could result in an unusable OS.

If you don't want to "play" with the registry directly (and hence reduce the risk of having any problems) you can use a free tool called TweakUI.
