Attachment icon missing from message window

Why is the attachment icon missing from the Outlook message window? In the Inbox list view, the messages in question have a paperclip icon, indicating that there is an attachment. I double-click to open the message and there is no attachment icon.

To clarify, the messages in question are all NDRs. Other messages with attachments are normal. The NDR is supposed to have the problem message attached. I know that the attachments exist, because I can open them using Outlook Web Access--but not with Outlook 2000.

This is a new Exchange 2000/Outlook 2000 installation with no other oddities. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Thanks tipme. I tried selecting Word as the email editor and re-opening Outlook. I still do not have an attachment icon.

To further explain, the attachment icon is missing for NDRs only, on any workstation on the network, using the admin mailbox or another user's.

I read the Microsoft KB article Q218356 (thanks rjcpjc), which confirms that this is a known problem with Outlook 2000. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is there no solution or work-around? I am already using Outlook in CW mode.
