Access 2000 "The Wizard is Unable to Create Your Report"

Hey, I am working in a default installation of Access 2000 on a W98 SE machine. While using the Report Wizard in a small, straight forward database, the above message appeared when the report was generating, and the resulting report was blank with no fields or labels. I checked available patches from MS, and nothing seemed to address such a problem. Any Ideas? Thanks in Advance, BIll

Can you provide some more background:
Are you using more than 1 table (or query) in the report?  Are you trying to create a chart?  Did you try the repair and compact?  Do you have all the add-ins for the DB that you need?

Sorry, this is a simple 1 table report that simply displays all the fields in the table sorted on the key. There are no add ins listed in the addin manager, and further I would not know which one(s) I might need in any event. I did run repair and compact and it made no difference in the behaviour. Can you offer any further suggestions or advice? Thanks, Bill
I would re-run the set-up program by going to control panel/add remove programs/
Choose custom installation and try installing all of the components for Access.  To do this, tell it you want to run everything from your hard disk.
I dont know if this article will help, but give it a try:

Thanks, I will give it a try, but it will have to be later this week. It is dinner time here and I am heading out of town in the a.m. I will keep you posted on the results when they are in. Thanks Again, Bill

Well, I have loaded all of the available options onto my HD, and that made no difference. So I completely uninstalled Access 2000 from the PC, then re-installed it as you suggested: custom, selecting all options installed and run from the HD. Unfortunately, this still made no difference in the symptoms. I'm no genius, but this is just a small, simple database base from a tutorial for Access I found on the internet, and I don't see anything about the construction of the db that could be causing this problem. I beleive it must be a bug or fluke of some sort. Too bad there is no indication in the error message of what the cause might be. I viewed the knowledge base report you indicated, and although that scenario does involve the same error message, it is not what is happening in this situation. I can construct the report manually, and this case it is not that big of a deal, but very quickly the report wizard will be a big time saver on the creation of reports, and I will not want to live without it. I appreciate your input, PsychoDazey, I wish there were more input from others so as to provide other leads to followup on. Thanks, Bill

This is a free technical support site.

Experts who answer questions here receive no pay or other compensation except Expert points as a result answering questions and being awarded points.

As a result, and as a Moderator of this forum, my goal is to ensure that Experts and Askers alike no longer allow questions to get stale.

Please provide that feeback now. It's greatly appreciated!

If you need any help at all in cleaning up this or any other questions, don't hesitate to contact me via email. I will assist in any way that I can.

You have several open questions:

https://www.experts-exchange.com/jsp/qShow.jsp?qid=20230398
https://www.experts-exchange.com/jsp/qShow.jsp?qid=20151403

To assist you in your cleanup, I'm providing the following guidelines:

1.  Stay active in your questions and provide feedback whenever possible. Likewise, when feedback has not been provided by the experts, commenting again makes them receive an email notification, and they may provide you with further information. Experts have no other method of searching for questions in which they have commented, except manually.

2.  Award points by hitting the Accept Comment As Answer button located above and to the left of that expert's comment.

3.  When grading, be sure to read:
https://www.experts-exchange.com/jsp/cmtyQuestAnswer.jsp#3
to ensure that you understand the grading system here at EE. If you grade less than an A, you must explain why.

4.  Questions that were not helpful to you should be PAQ'd (stored in the database for their valuable content?even if not valuable to you) or deleted. To PAQ or delete a question, you must first post your intent in that question to make the experts aware. Then, if no experts object after three full days, you can post a zero-point question at community support to request deletion or PAQ. Please include the link(s) to the question(s).
CS:  https://www.experts-exchange.com/jsp/qList.jsp?ta=commspt
At that point, a moderator can refund your points and PAQ or delete the question for you. The delete button does not work.

5.  If you fail to respond to this cleanup request, I must report you to the Community Support Administrator for further action.

Our intent is to get the questions cleaned up, and not to embarrass or shame anyone. If you have any questions or need further assistance at all, feel free to ask me in this question or post a zero-point question at CS. We are very happy to help you in this task!
