We currently use a permanent modem connection. This is proving unsatisfactory and we must increase our bandwidth. ADSL is a new technology here and I am receiving conflicting opinions on whether ISDN or ASDL is the way to go (are there otjher cost effective options?). We currently download around 3GB per month.

There are probably not any other cost effective solutions.  Frame Relay is more reliable, but usually much more expensive.  ISDN is a fairly reliable technology, but it limits you to 128K.  ADSL is usually faster, anywhere from 256 to 7 MB, but it is not symmetrical and downloads faster than it uploads.  It can be less reliable.

Your choice, I've reduced the value of this by one-half, and you can now accept the comment you like as the accepted answer to grade and close.  Perhaps, if you add more information here, expert will return to add information.  If that does occur, you can always directly increase value of questions if you choose.

Hope this helps.

Thank you,
