How can I declare a function in a JSP page

Hi
   Could someone advice me whether I could declare a function in a JSP page and call it. If so how ?

You could use a JSP declaration.
<%! returntype  yourfunction(){yourcode} %>
and you can call it with a JSP expression.
<%= yourfunction() %>
