shadow file password hash

Slackware Linux 7.1

I have shadow password installed. The passwords
in the shadow file show up as clear text. How
would I hash the passwords?

please read the "pwconv" manual

$man pwconv

or just do

$pwconv

immediately (!)...

Problem solved.
