Please redo your question. It did not show up.
I would think a generic UPS serial port driver would work , IBM, Belkin or similar.

I hope this helps !

Oh no! I have to rewrite the whole thing again...

well, well, just as a note the "no text"-problem is solved in
http://www.experts-exchange.com/jsp/qShow.jsp?ta=commspt&qid=20152406&jsessionid=23158995922581237

Back to the UPS. Briefly I have an AST MANHATTAN 1000VA UPS
On the front it says AST Manhattan
On the backside it says Deltec something, (I don't have it here right now, but I'll add it later.) The problem is I don't have the software CD anymore and I can't find anyone that provides support for it anymore. (both Ast and Deltec seems to have been bought up...)

It works with the general UPS-drivers buuilt-in to winnt, but they can only tell me when there is a power-out, not how good capacity the batteries are in and so on.

I know it supports those features, (It's a so called "Smart-UPS")

I found this old post (see further down). So I know the drivers exist, but this adress did ofcourse not exist anymore...

Any help is greatly appreciated!

From: john burton <jburton@telepath.com>

Subject: Manhattan UPS

Since I've taken down my DOS-based dial-up BBS, I'm thinkin' the next

thing to take down is the NetWare server.

I've been running my unix box and my netware box on a Manhattan 1000va

UPS, with the netware box taking care of the monitoring of the UPS via

an NLM. However, the CDROM that came with the UPS has monitoring

software for a SCO box.

1. I know about powerd. That'll work as far as I know, but wouldn't

THEIR sofware likely do better?

2. The AST software is written for a box running SCO v3.2.2 ODT v.1.0.

It provides not only the management deamon, but a monitoring deamon.

I've BEEN using the MS Windows-based monitoring software, and could

likely continue to do so, but I'd like to move up to doing it via "X" on

my COL-S box...

The question (knew I'd get here, huh)...

How do I run SCO binary files on my COL-S box???

Thanks!

OK

http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/UPS-HOWTO.html

Linux may have the best info on what you can do.

I would try the APC and other software, just to see if it is compatible,

Also check

Ok, thanks for your help. The http://www.jetcafe.org/~npc/doc/ups-faq.html
said nothing I didn't know, but the
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/UPS-HOWTO.html
seems very useful. I'll look into it as soon as I get the time, even though they speak very little of the "smart"-mode, which I want to use..... I'll also try the APC-software ofcourse

I think it's time to buy a new UPS if you need that functionality.

It should be in the $100 - $200 range.

I hope this helps !

I found the answer myself two weeks a go, googling :) (the answer wasn't there when I posted. Deltec was bought by Exide, and Powerware bought Exide. LanSafe III from www.powerware.com works perfectly in both windows and linux, gives history, in / out voltage, load and so on. I guess I should ask for a refund, but better would be if you made the question answered so it gets in the archive and more people can take advantage of it (I've struggled many hours with this thing).
