Multicolumn listbox

Hi, I can't seem to fathom how to use multicolumns in checklistboxes.  Does anyone know how I can specify the values of the cells within a multicolumn checklistbox please?  Its driving me bonkers!

use a tlistview instead

because in a listbox the items are only distributed to the columns, but no item knows what item is on left or right side from itself, there are just no cells

Aha! Thanks kretzschmar, I've been struggling with this for years always thinking there must be something I was missing but now I know & that makes perfect sense!
