API

i want to do following functionality.
        i have to do integration of lotus notes with the third party tool . so if i want to view the perticilar file which is adhere to third party tool format. then i have to call that api and pass the parameter to that .
  can you tell me how to integrate that api with lotus notes. basically how to cal that api. form lotus notes.

 is it necessary to me to register that api some where? please let me know.

Assuming the third party API uses a DLL, you will need to prototype the functions in the declarations section of your LotusScript.  For example:

The following is a function declaration to access the GetPrivateProfileString function from the Win32API

Public Declare Function GetPrivateProfileString Lib "kernel32" Alias "GetPrivateProfileStringA" (ByVal lpApplicationName As String, ByVal lpKeyName As Any, ByVal lpDefault As String, ByVal lpReturnedString As String, ByVal nSize As Long, ByVal lpFileName As String) As Long

If you are familiar with VB, you will see that the function prototypes are the same as if you were declaring them in VB with a few exceptions.  Try it out.
