Getting the DVD drive to play DVDs?

Hi

I have an IBM ThinkPad T21 with a DVD drive & Win2000 installed..

When I insert a movie DVD -

'There is no Windows 2000 compatible DVD decoder installed...  a DVD device or Decorder Software is required to play movies..."

Do I need to get a specific decorder for the IBM DVD or Generic? Where can I get this from?

Appreciate any help..

A DVD is just just a data storage medium.  The DVD drive is equipped to read the data, that all it does.

A DVD movie has the data but it's encoded in MPEG format.  So you view it you need an MPEG decoder and a movie player.

I'd suggest you get SoftDVD:

Although there are many other possible software only DVD players.
