Hi experts,

Have anyone used DBLookupEdit from DevExpress ?
It's like DBLookupCombo from InfoPower.
But I found that I may not leave the datasource and datafield empty in devexpress (you can do so in InfoPower).
If I leave it empty, it will not drop down anything.
I only need to get information from the lookup edit, and not updating, why do I need to set the datasource and datafield properties.
And it doesn't not allow circular link, which means we may not use the same datasource as the one we set in listsource property (or lookuptable in infopower).
Do I really need another datasource, just to make it work ?

Any trick please ?
Thanks,
Karnel

hi,

its just a other philosophy,
because the lookup information is read from a lookup-field defintion,
which you select in the datafield-property and as
the lookup-field defintion not allow a self-reference
(its not a problem of the combobox)
you have to use a second datasource

and because it is so, the content of the current record of the field is allways shown.
it cannot used as a like combobox-navigator, as it says its a dbaware edit-component,
which looks up a value in another dataset

meikl ;-)

Hi,

Sorry, I've just come back from a trip.
So, you mean I have to set the datasource & datafield properties and point to another datasource in order to see the dropdown list box ?

Thanks,
Karnel
