How do I convert Quicktime 4 (MOV) files to MPEG-1?

What kind of program do I need for this, and is there a freeware or shareware version available? Thanks

First convert the MOV file to a AVI, then to MPEG.

Read these links and try some of the shareware downloads...

You can get a trial version of Adobe Premier which will help.

You have to buy the full version of QuickTime 4.
Then you'll have under the "File" menu an "Export" item. I recomend that you choose : AVI, Cinepak, Best Quality, No key frame, No bitrate limit.
Once you've got the avi you can use TMPGEnc to encode it to MPEG-1...

But does cleaner really work on a windows 2003 server?

No, it's a desktop app.

So it is not a service? It could be run on Windows 2003, but only on the workstation part of the Operating System.

At what point did Cleaner have to run on a server?

Correct.

No point.  You could run it on Server 2003 even though the OS is not optimized for those types of apps.

You may want to have a look at www.videohelp.com as they are an excellent source of tools, especially for conversion and transcoding.  Lots of links to trial versions and free software, as well as tutorials.  procoder 2 and tmpgenc maybe worth a look for you?

cheers
