We are planning to implement the MVC architecture in our application. Using WEBSPHERE 3.5 and other java technology.

I want to build a single controller which will handle the entire operations. I have around 10 jsp to which it will spit the resquest to deliver the response.

I need some suggestions and articles to make sure the integrity of such a architecture and also that how my single servlet should be and how will it distinguish each page to which it will be forwarding to .

Thanx in advace.

The ideal way to approach this is decide the processing of the request based on request information coming from the request. Therefore, your controller can make use of a hidden field within the response sent back to the user to decide the action to performed.

 This would fit in nicely with your requirement of having a single controller. You could make use of a confguration file (could be XML file) that would hold a mapping of the hidden key to the actual processing handler as well as the destination JSP.

 The pseudocode would be something like (in your controller):

 doPost()/doGet()
 {
  ...
  get the hidden field from the user request

  for the obained key find the requestProcessor & destination JSP

  set the destination JSP as a request attribute

  dispatch request to requestProcessor (which could be  a simple Java class should you need to do any processing)

 }

 In the init method of the servlet you can parse the XML file and build a hashmap of key mappings.

Can you send me some practical files for this purpose. you can only use two fields and then explain it more ellaborately. (Kinldy ensure that the XML approach is also included). This will really be very very helpful for me.

thanx in advance.
