Hello:

I was wondering if someone could give me the pros and cons (ie: development speed, robustness, security,
power, etc..) of each the following tools for web application development and what you think is the
best:
(1) IIS and ASP
(2) Apache and PHP
(3) Apache and EJB

Thanks,
Matt

Hi,

First, you can compare ASP with PHP and JSP and Servlets, but not with EJBs.
Second, I think Apache on Unix/Linux is much safer than IIS on Windows. Wether you use ASP, PHP or JSP or Servlets does not effect the securtiy of your system.
Third, IIS and ASP are platform-dependent, apache, php and java are not.
Fourth, ASP and PHP are faster in runtime than Java.
Fifth, you can access COM objects with ASP.
Sixth, using JSP or Servlets is much more fun, is better reusable.
Seventh, for small projects, PHP or ASP is faster to develop and usually satisfactory.
Eigth, for big projects, PHP and ASP lack real object-oriented programming. Java will make your project be more understandable for those that need to look at it at later times.
Nineth, EJBs are highly scalable, robust, and easy to develop.
Tenth, Java rocks.
