FP text on the move

I have constructed my own navigation buttons by using a shape that resembles the logo and adding text.

One set appears as in the editor, another set has the text diplaced from the centre of the button which is not the way that is intended. The buttons are also degraded to a very ragged edge for some reason.

The site is at:

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

#1 Format-->Theme-->Modify-->Text...make sure both the vertical and horizonal alignment are set to center/middle

#2 What image program did you use to make the oval??  The resolution looks ok from here.

Sorry for the delay. Yesterday was a birthday for my princess. We've been married 50 years and she was 17. (The computer is dislexic)

Back toi the serious stuff.  This web does not use a theme.

Image was made by the draw facility in FP

FP 2k strikes again!

The code for your image maps (writing the text) is all messed up.

In your browser, look at the difference between the offending graphic's html and the set below that is working.

The set that is working....which version of FP did you create it in?  Try copying that entire section....pasting it where the offensive set is and re-writing the image maps (right click for the hyperlinks, dbl-click to change the text etc.)

If that doesn't work, the best solution is not to use image maps for the text but make buttons for each.

Also....I don't recommend Image Composer for graphics.  (I think I read somewhere that M$ is phasing it out anyway.)

Try the FREE 30 trial of Macromedia's Fireworks.  A very slick program, and easy to learn.  The best part is....you can fix this problem and if you don't end up liking it, you don't need to buy it.  But, based on the number of sites you are doing, I think you will find it useful.

Cheers!

oh, and did you resize those ovals from within FP?  That can really mess up your edges too.

Classylinks,

Many thanks. I could not use Flash because I had added a Macromedia suite from a magazine CD but not used Flash. The thirty days were used up.

I made the ovals from PhotoDraw complete with text overlay.
All is well.

Cheers till next time,

robinski

Great.

Macromedia's FIREWORKS is very different from Flash.  You can download the trial from their site.
