Windows 2000 advanced server freezes or hangs.

Symphtoms:
I can't move the mouse and the display freezes. Don't know yet if the system is running.

I have a Dell Dimension XPS T500 and a Diamond nvidia 770 TNT ultra i think. not sure.

Please help me.

It could be an issue with the 770 TNT drivers and Windows 2000.  Configure it to use the standard VGA drivers and see if the system is stable.

Are all the rest of your peripheral devices W2K Server compatible and supported?

Don't know really. Dell should know what they are doing.

In general I've found that they do.  Are you saying this server came with W2K server installed by Dell?

If so, I'd suggest you avail yourself of their fine technical support.  If a factory install of W2K is freezing then I'd suspect a bad load of the software or a hardware problem.

Could also be that the processor gets overheated. Just a wild guess.

I think that the system is more stable now not sure sometimes it happends very often. I have lowered my framrate from 72 to 70. It hang after a couple of ours. Now i have changed the colour resolution to 16 bit.

I have read in newsgroups that often nvidia card can make the windows 2000 hang.

I have managed this by decreasing one step in the troubleshoot slider in the graphic settings.
