Have a user that has a personal folder.  The PST file resides on the server. (Windows 2000/Outlook 2000) - User has admin rights.

He wanted to copy the PST file to a CD so he could use it on another PC with his Outlook profile.

He closed Outlook on his PC and copied the pst using Adaptec.  File copied OK.  However, when you try to open this file or import it - get error that "access is denied."  So tried to open this pst off CD on his current PC and get same error.

We even tried copying the pst to his the local hard drive and burning it to CD with the same result.

Any ideas?

Check the file attributes and take read only off after the pst is copied to a hard drive.

The file he sent to the CDR is a read only file.

Copy it to a hard drive on the second machine and go to the files properties and remove 'Read Only' if its there.

File attribute changed to "read only" when it copied to CD even though it wasn't set that way on network.  I'll keep this in mind for future files.  Thanks!
