Illustrator Text Color

A colleague stumped me today with what SHOULD be a basic Illustrator question.  Somebody please fill me in so I don't feel like such a doofus.

Say you have a whole bunch of photo images and several things on each photo are to be labeled in white text.  How do you set the default text color so you don't have to use the color picker each time you type?

Thanks,
DCS

Yeah, youre right...i was in a hurry and wasnt thinking. As far as i know there isnt a way to default all the text to a color. They expect you to batch change them. Select all your text bits after typing them, and change their color.

It should just use the current foreground color. It isnt really a default, its just whatever your foreground happens to be.

Nope.  Keeps changing back to black once I click on the text tool.  That's the problem.

Bummer. I would have expected that to be available somehow in Illustrator.  Oh well, thanks again Weed.

Since illy is object based, a selection of nothing has no color.

But you can draw rectangles of the same color all day by setting the foreground color.  They should have had text behave the same way.  Oh well, just my opinion...
