Drop down box question

I have a drop down box populated from an MS Access table but I want the first entry to be blank. At the moment, unless another entry in the drop down box is selected, the first entry in the table is always visible and is therefore selected when submitted with the form. I want to do this without adding a blank entry into the Access table.
Any Ideas??

Are you coding the ASP yourself or using a wizard?

Show me the code for your drop down.

ClassyLinks,
I'm using a wizard which gives me the required results from the Access DB but I want to add a blank above the selections so when nothing is selected nothing gets submitted. I try to do it with FORM FIELD PROPERTIES and then ADD CHOICE but then a choice field is required which can't be left blank(or white space)

Any help greatly appreciated

Why not make that choice something like:

Please select an option

and leave the value blank (don't check off the box)

That way, nothing will be submitted to the db for that field if they don't select anything.

So there's no way to leave choice blank?

Just spaces...but that might not work in Netscape, and it would add a blank entry to the db, as you have already discovered.
