cfmail smtpserver problem

hai, everyone! i had a problem in using CFMail.
if use CFmail, the smtpserver is a required field.

let say my customer can log into my server, and they had their particulars
including e-mail. once they want to mail to me, i plan to use cfmail.
but for cfmail, it needs the smtpserver
in order to send mail, what if my customer don't understand this,
they didn't provide me the smtpserver, then cfmail will definately
not working.

how to solve this kind of problem?
(i am planning not to use mailto)

It doesn't matter what SMTP server you are using to send mail out.  As long as the SMTP server isn't set up to block email forwarding (Which many are now) you can pass email through them out to their destination.  You don't have the customer set the SMTP server, you set it in the code to whatever SMTP server you want to use.  If there is one running on the server that the Cold Fusion code is running on, you might try that one first.
