The error you are getting is a registry error.
In your registry your filesystemobject class is associated with a ProgId. If something goes wrong in the registry, you won't be able to call the filesystemobject again.

What I suggest is that you reinstall Visual Basic so that your ProgId is ok again. I am not 100% sure that this will help, but it is definetely worth a shot.

MsShadow,

What about installing Visual Interdev?

MsShadowCommented:
Yes, that would have the same effect. If installing vb has no effect, vi will have no effect either. It is just something you can try. A standard pc does not have the sccrun.dll installed (dll for filesystemobject). By installing an application for visual studio, the dll is installed. Reinstalling vi might just do the trick :-)

I hope so because when I reinstall Visual Studio, My Win2K boot up with an error msg requesting to perform a chkdisk. Why? Could it be the file installed is corrupted?

What abt viruses?

MsShadowCommented:
I don't think this is caused by viruses, unless you have codered on your computer, that might cause you some problems. Just download the latest virus scanners and check your computer. You can always try to uninstall visual interdev and then reinstall visual interdev.

Hi,

1. check the progid in regedit of your server.
    (or)
2. Go to visual basic 6.0 and check whether Microsoft scripting.filesystemobject is present in the menu Project-References.
    (or)
3. Go to visual basic 6.0 and check if the above progid is in the Object Browser (press F2 to view object browser or select the menu view-Object Browser).

Regards,
answerbank.

The above comments are to be taken in consideration you can simply search for sccrun.dll if it's there try to register it again:

from a command prompt type regsvr32 dll_path\sccrun.dll

or:

If you are hosting your site on a web provider then for sure it will be disabled (unregistered) by them for obvious security reasons.. you'll either need to let them activate it or you're "Caput"..

Silver5,

I tried searching for this file (sccrun.dll) and it not anywhere in the directory. What could have happened?

Answerbank,

What if it's not there and what should I do? I have VIsual Interdev and VB in the server. I tried re-installing Visual Interdev but to it fails.

Please advice.

Cheers
Jason

ericloke,
See the bottom of the question page where it states:

An answer is a specific solution to a question and should be submitted if it will solve the questioner's problem and doesn't duplicate a previous comment.

What you put as a Answer had been previously been proposed. I am reducing this question to 0 points so it can go into the PAQ but it will remove your expert points.

jason,
What you accepted as an answer was posted many times before ericloke posted his duplicate "Answer"
Since you received an answer that worked I will not refund your 100 points when I reduce the points to 0.
