saving passwords?

does anybody know why win2k does not save dial up connection passwords? it always saves a long password (15 or so stars are shown) instead one the one thats put in. i have done several win2k installations on different machines and this problem is always the same. any ideas?

It is not really a problme it is an encyprtion scheme to maskd the actual length of the password.

The password is saved when you make a succesful connection. The reason for the 15 stars is so if somebody was looking over your shoulder and was hoping to get an idea how long your password was in length this scheme would thwart their attempt.

Believe it or not if somebody is trying to steal your password and they know how long in length your password is then it makes there job of breaking the password a little easier hence the reason for masking how long the actual password is. :>)
