Microsoft Exchange Directory Errors.

The following services will not start: MS Exchange Directory, MS Information Store, MS Internet Mail Connector, MS Message Transfer Agent. Trying to start MS Exchange Directory shows the following error - Error 2140: AN internal windows NT error occurred - because this will not start the other services it governs will not start such as Internet Mail Connector which throws up Error: 1068 the dependency service or group failed to start. Also trying to connect to the Exchange sever through the MS Exchange Administrator isn't succesful and comes back with the following error: The Microsoft Exchange Server Computer does not respond. Microsoft Exchange Director ID no: DS_E_COMMUNICATION_PROBLEM. I am using MS Exchange version 4 service pack 2 which is running on an NT4 server. Rebooting NT4 to check the Event Log shows an entry - MS Exchange DS -Error -528 has occurred (internal 2030159. I have trawled through Technet with the error numbers but have drawn a blank. Can anyone help?? Please??

What happened before this?
Might want to first try reinatalling SP2, and if that fails you will probably need to reinstall to get the site name and organization name corrected.

Are there any other errors in the event log?

Have you checked disk space? If available space falls below 10Mb the service will fail. Its sounds silly but users can be real ba***rds for filling drives up when you're not looking...

Failing that - can't find that exact error on MS Knowledge Base but heres a link to something that mentions error 528 in relation to Exchange Server...
