Can some one translate?

(ListBox.items.objects[ListBox.itemindex])

how would it be with a ListView?

When assigning objects, instead of using
  ListBox.Items.Objects[i] := SomeObjectVar;

you would use
  ListView1.Items[i].Data := @SomeObjectVar;

and then reference the objects using
  TSomeObject(ListView1.Selected.Data^);
