Lotus Notes 4.6

I am currently using a Lotus Notes program provided through the network at my workplace. Mainly it is used as our e-mail software, but it is also used to house different Lotus Notes databases. Currently I am trying to modify and existing templated discussion database for my special needs. I cannont figure out how to make fields madatory on an input form?

The fields don't have any property like Mandatory = True, it should be programmed.

Notes fields contain various events and one of the event is INPUT VALIDATION, this event is fired whenever user exits out of the field. For eg: if you don't want anyone to exit out of the field without entering a value here is the formula to do that

@if( @trim(fld) = ""; @Failure("Field Name cannot be null"); @Success)

What it actually does is it checks the current field called 'fld' for null by trimming the value, if it is true then failure condition is raised or else success condition is raised.

If the user doesn't get to this field and tries to save before that then the form resfresh will fire this event on recalculate.

Hope it is clear

Thanks, this worked like a charm when trying to save the document. I would like it to flag the inputter when trying to exit the field within the form. Anyway it still serves the ultimate purpose, and will save me a lot of time in the end. Thank you very much for help.
