asked on

iis in Win 2k pro ?

I'm developing Active Server Pages, my OS is Win2k Pro.
Can anyone tell me if it really is possible to "browse" through my own .html (or .asp) pages in win2k pro?
In other words is there some option to make my folders "web-shared"?
Some people assured me it is possible and I don't have to upgrade to 2000 Server, but when I use localhost, IE can't find the server.

I would really appreciate some help!

I'm glad to hear this, can I install the IIS 5 from the win2k-CD, or is it in the service pack?

I think it isn't installed yet, in my administrative tools there is no PWS, IIS or WWW Service.

Thank you for answering so fast,

Hen
You can install it from the w2k CD...go to the control panel, add-remove programs, and click the add/remove windows components icon.  This will bring up the Windows Component Wizard, and you can select the components of IIS you need (selecting world wide web service (it's at the end of the IIS list) will install all the required components.)
Be sure to service pack and hotfix after you install.
Good luck.
Thank you, I know this was a fairly easy question .
But isn't every question until you know the answer?
I searched under win200 pro iis, but since you answered I tried win2k pro pws and I now know how to install.

Thanks a lot!

Great!  Good luck.
