Dear Club members.

We user Developer6.0. As you know that when a report is run, a background process called Reports Background Engine is created.
I want  this process to be terminated automatically when a report is completed and we exit from report.

In routine, this process remains even we exit from a report. I want this process to be terminated when we exit from a report.

Please let me know the way to terminate it.

thanks.

This is from Metalink:

Pass the ORACLE_SHUTDOWN = 'Yes' parameter to Oracle Reports in a
parameter list with the RUN_PRODUCT command.

For example:

    Add_Parameter(pl_id, 'ORACLE_SHUTDOWN', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'Yes' );
    Run_Product(REPORTS, 'repname', SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME, FILESYSTEM,
    pl_id);

    NOTE:  The argument 'Yes' is case sensitive and must be upper case
           'Y' followed by lower case 'es'.

    NOTE:  The Oracle_Shutdown parameter must be passed as the FIRST
           parameter in the list.

After the report is finished, the report server will terminate.

   NOTE:  ORACLE_SHUTDOWN is an undocumented, but supported parameter.

SOLUTION EXPLANATION:
=====================

The Reports server is automatically started when you launch a report
using the RUN_PRODUCT built-in from Oracle Forms, and the Reports Server
icon is displayed.  The Reports Server will stay open until the user
actually exits from the Reports Server or Windows, unless ORACLE_SHUTDOWN
is used.

Care should be used with automatic Reports Server shutdown because you
don't know if another user is running another Form, or another Report.
The user would have to wait for the Server to be brought up again, which
may outweigh any benefits of shutting down the Reports Server.
