Idle disconnect after 5 minutes

Running an application using ODBC over TCP/IP to a SQL Server 7.0 database on WinNT.  After exactly 5 minutes of being idle I lose my connection.  If I do constant requeries, updates, etc. I have no problems and the app will run all day.

Is there a specific setting I can change to disable this idle disconnect?  My guess is that it is a registry setting in WinNT, but I have not been able to find anything referencing 5 minutes 300 seconds or idle disconnect timeouts...

My front end is a VB application running on both Win98 and Win2000.  As I said before, the app runs fine as long as I am not idle for more than 5 minutes.  After 5 minutes of being idle, I lose my connection on the server (as seen by NETSTAT).

thanks

what is your front-end - VB, Java, C++.... How do you connect to database?

Have a look at Microsoft article Q120642.

It might help as it lists the various registry settings available for IP including timeouts, retries etc.
