I have been using win98 and crystal 8 on my pc for some time.
I have recently put ME on my pc and reloaded VB 5.0 and crystal reports.

The project I have been developing and any other with a call to  Set dbArea = OpenDatabase(BuildPath & gsDataBase)

error 429 ActiveX controller could not complete comand.

Can any one help me with this problem, is it a problem with a dll and ME and if so what do I do about it.

thanks

This error usually occurs when you try to create an  object that is not registered so I would say you are on the right track. I don't use Crystal so I assume the OpenDatabase function you are calling is a crystal function?

OpenDatabase is a DAO command, I would suggest that you probably have MDAC 2.6 on the machine as it is ME and don't have the jet drivers. These can be obtained and installed from http://www.microsoft.com/data/download_Jet4SP3.htm

I would give this a try first and see what happens.

Downloaded this loaded ok but still no luck.

Any other sugestions. I thought it may be something to do with the ODBC drivers I am using access 97 as my DataBase behind this project. Is there away of registering the ODBC drivers for access 97.

Thanks

Hi!

ODBC data source setup, have you done this?

In Controlpanel there is a icon "ODBC DataSources 32bit"

Add the datasource there.
